
Power Systems Engineer (m/f/d) Photovoltaics and Energy Storage
We are looking for an experienced and driven Power Systems Engineer with knowhow in utility scale renewable energy and infrastructure projects to support the team in providing engineering solutions from inception through to RtB (Ready to Build) and construction phase. Ideally, you bring in-depth knowledge of DNO and transmission systems to work as an integral member of the team, identifying areas and points on the grid infrastructure for solar and energy storage development. Your tasks:
- Identification, selection, and engagement with the relevant DNO and Transmission operators for development of utility scale solar and solar and battery storage projects up to DCO / NSIP scale
- General design of grid scale battery storage system including SLD, power system using specialist software (such as DIgSILENT and ETAP) and grid code compliance studies, equipment sizing and specifications
- Manage grid connection activities on transmission and distribution networks including grid applications, review/evaluation of grid offer and connection options, supervision of the connection work
- Technical support for the selection and specification of Li-ion battery storage equipment and ICP/BoP equipment
- Identifying the project-specific constraints, specify technical requirements, and collaborate with the contractors to optimise the system design and engineering solutions
- Work closely with the Project Development Manager to monitor project development process and review technical deliveries throughout the design, construction, and commissioning
- Attend and lead technical meetings with key technical stakeholders, NG, DNO, ICP, EPC
- Ensuring compliance with Company and industry Health and Safety legislation
Your profile:
- At least 2 years of work experience in power systems engineering and conversant with UK Grid Code and connection compliance requirements such as G99, P28, P18 / P19
- Demonstrable knowledge of and in power system flow design software (for UK Grid), such as ETAP and DIgSILENT
- Commercial awareness for engineering solutions and system design
- Confident appearance, strong communication and negotiation skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of the overall development team
- Good use of, MS Projects, MS Office, Teams, Box etc.
- Excellent English language skills
- Willingness to travel UK wide
