FIELD SERVICE TECHNICIAN - SOLAR PV
Are you an experienced electrician looking to make a real impact in Ireland's growing renewable energy sector? Join us at greentech – one of Europe's leading specialists in the development, construction, and operation of utility-scale solar PV plants and battery storage systems. This is your opportunity to play a hands-on role in Ireland's clean energy future.
Based in the Tipperary / Cork region and travelling to sites as needed, you'll be a key member of our Operations & Maintenance (O&M) team, carrying out planned preventative maintenance, responding to reactive faults, and contributing to continuous improvement across our growing Irish solar PV portfolio. You'll collaborate with experienced O&M colleagues and specialist subcontractors, working to the highest operational and safety standards.
Your tasks:
- Carrying out scheduled and corrective maintenance on utility-scale solar PV plants to keep them performing at their best.
- Identifying and managing on-site risks in line with company and site-specific risk assessments, method statements, and health & safety regulations — and raising any concerns promptly with relevant managers.
- Liaising with internal and external stakeholders including technical asset managers, LV/HV specialists, ground maintenance crews, subcontractors, and other third parties.
- Troubleshooting monitoring and communications equipment, including data loggers, routers, and environmental sensors.
- Maintaining thorough, accurate records of all on-site maintenance activities and updating the company's ticketing system.
- Engaging proactively in training and professional development opportunities.
- Participating in the weekend on-call rota.
Your profile:
- A qualified electrician (Safe Pass and EWRB registration or equivalent Irish certification expected).
- Hands-on experience with solar PV installation and maintenance — utility-scale experience is a strong advantage.
- Solid fault-finding and troubleshooting skills, with the confidence to work independently on site.
- Good dexterity and familiarity with AC/DC electrical test equipment, MC4 crimping tools, and standard solar PV industry tooling.
- Experience with network diagnostics and remote communications is desirable.
- Comfortable using Microsoft Office, mobile devices, and digital reporting tools.
- A sound working knowledge of Irish health & safety standards, including familiarity with the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act.
- AP/SAP authorisation status is desirable but not essential — support for obtaining this can be provided.
- Driver’s license required
We offer:
- Be part of a values-driven company committed to sustainability, excellence, and teamwork.
- Join a growing Irish team with the backing and expertise of a pan-European renewable energy leader.
- Competitive salary and benefits package with company pension, private healthcare, company vehicle and 25 days holiday plus bank holidays
- Opportunities for ongoing training, professional development, and career progression.
- Play a meaningful role in Ireland's transition to renewable energy.
